An Ode to Houston Llew Spiritile #183 "Inheritance"

Posted by #keepingitkendra on

If you're a friend of Quirks of Art, there is no doubt we've introduced to you to Houston Llew Spiritiles, they're our favorite little "molten glass on copper art collectible" ever! I mean, how perfect a gift is #123 'Fine Craft' for The Virginia Beer Company's grand opening!? They make the most perfect presents!

"Fine Craft" Houston Llew Spiritile

If you've been introduced to Houston Llew's handcrafted Spiritiles, no doubt you know the collection is always evolving. Spiritiles often change, pieces retire, and new designs are added seasonally (and sometimes randomly) into the mix! It can be hard to say good-bye to our favorite designs, even when we know something sparkly and new will take it's place. But, "It's a fact of life", Spiritiles retire, never to be created again.

One Spiritile we've grown particularly fond of here at Quirks of Art is #183 "Inheritance", a tile that speaks to our historic roots and military community here in Hampton Roads, Virginia. It features a quote from John F. Kennedy "We dare not forget that we are heirs of that first revolution."

I mean... LOOK! We live right here... in the middle of Historic Colonial Williamsburg... the heart of "that first revolution"!

Williamsburg VA loves Houston Llew Spiritiles

So it is with great sadness we must get ready for the inevitable... #183 "Inheritance" ... a very limited - edition Houston Llew Spiritile is retiring on September 5th, only three weeks away! Houston and his team of artisans will no longer take orders for this stunning enameled piece after midnight, September 5th.

Don't panic... there's still time to snap one up and hide it away for the holidays if you LOVE this limited - run design. We love the clear glass featured in this piece, the preserved copper underneath really sparkles!

Perhaps this patriotic design is not your cup of tea? Well, have a look at the whole collection, you'll find a design that speaks to you, we promise! Spiritiles always ship for free from Quirks of Art.

If you're in the area, pop by and see them in person... we'd love to tell you a little more about the artist Houston Llew and his team... we're good buddies you know!

I mean, they send candy in every gallery shipment of Spiritiles... his team is a HOOT (Hi Matt & Heather!)... there was that time we all went swimming in Lake Lanier... oh, and Jenn and Houston's team have a fun little bingo game they love to play at shows! (She's like, a show celebrity!) We're just saying that...
